The study of distant galaxies is crucial to understand how the Universe that we know today has started to take shape in the young Universe. The wealth of deep astronomical data currently available has enabled a fast progress of this field over the last few years, pushing our knowledge of galaxy evolution to early cosmic times. The aim of this conference is to gather the observational and theoretical high-redshift galaxy communities to discuss the most recent results in this area and our 'way forward' in the scientific exploitation of existing and forthcoming astronomical facilities, particularly in the light of the imminent launch of the James Webb Space Telescope.
