Scientific Rationale
Thanks to the major space and ground-based telescopes that are simultaneously in operation, such as JWST, ALMA, and Euclid, we are now in a golden epoch for the study of galaxy formation and evolution through cosmic time. The new astronomical observations are allowing us to investigate with unprecedented detail the physical mechanisms that are at play shaping galaxy evolution from the Epoch of Reionization to the present day. At the same time, the continuous improvement of cosmological simulations is allowing for refined galaxy formation models that can explain these mechanisms with increasing accuracy.
In this conference we will bring together experts in the field to present the latest results on the multifaceted drivers of galaxy evolution through cosmic time. In addition to the presentations, we will have discussion sessions to synthesize all this information and identify the main open questions that we should aim to tackle over the coming years, with continuing and future facilities, such as the upcoming 30-meter class ground-based telescopes.
