Learning Goals

The aim of this course is to teach you about current research into chemical evolution of galaxies. It will start with some lectures giving the background into the subject, and then the students will be expected to read a selection of current papers and report on the results to the class in the form of a slide presentation. Explaining the paper and how it fits into out understanding of the chemical evolution of galaxies. The emphasis will be on understanding abundance properties of nearby stars and how they can be used to study the properties of the early universe.

It is assumed that you have followed a basic course on galaxies and have followed a bachelor degree in physics.
