Short observations
The UGC contains 1325 galaxies with blue diameter > 2.0 arcmin and dec >
20 degrees. For 429 of these there is no HI information in the RC3
catalog. In the first 3 observing periods we have used a selection of
these galaxies to fill the holes in the observing schedule of 12 hour
observations (the so-called short observations). Our aim was to detect
these galaxies and to determine their HI properties. Furthermore we
were interested in finding galaxies that might be suitable candidates
for WHISP. Data prior to February 1994 have been fully reduced and
analysed: 42 galaxies have been detected. A
paper has been published in A&A supplements.
