Description of data contained on a page

The graphical overview of the HI data displays 9 pictures, 2 color wedges and a small table with galaxy data. For an example click here.

The top 3 pictures display an optical image of the galaxy, the HI global profile and the HI position-velocity diagram along the major axis of the galaxy.

The middle 3 pictures show the total HI map of the galaxy at three different resolutions (full resolution, 30" resolution and 60" resolution). The total HI maps show the colomn density distribution of the galaxy, where all data with a signal-to-noise below 3 has been clipped. The color coding of the total HI maps is explained by the left wedge at the bottom of the page. The yellow ellipse in the lower right corner of the 3 pictures shows the size of the half power beam.

The bottom 3 pictures show the intensity-weighted-mean velocity field of the galaxy at, again, 3 resolutions (full, 30" and 60"). Also here the data are clipped at a signal-to-noise level of 3. The color coding is explained by the right wedge at the bottom of the page. The yellow ellipse in the lower right corner of the 3 pictures shows the size of the half power beam.

Next, the 9 pictures will be described in somewhat more detail...
