This is _the_ homepage of Arjen Siegers. I am an astronomy student at the Kapteyn Institute of the University of Groningen, where I am currently finishing my master's thesis on UV colours and optical spectroscopic properties of early-type galaxies. For more information on this and some previous project and assigments, please click here. Most links I visit very often can be found on the old page, so I won't mention them here. The immense amount of links on the old page was the most important reason for beginning on a new footing. As a student I spend most of my time at the Kapteyn Institute, which is the astronomy department of the university of Groningen. When not at the institute or at home, one of the most likely places where I can be found is Cleopatra A.S.G., the student society of which I am a member. They also have a web page.

My final 'Groot Onderzoek' report is listed as a pdf here.

High Flight
Oh I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of ---Wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence.Hovering there
I've chased the shouting wind along and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up along delirious, burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace,
Where never lark, or even eagle flew;
And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.
